Mary Lee (Allen) Murphy

Mrs.Mary Lee Allen Murphy, 91, of Morehead City, NC passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at Carteret General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at Munden Funeral Home Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jack Mumford officiating. The family will receive friends and family beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Murphy was born November 9, 1921 in Troy, NC to Dave and Hattie Allen. She lived, worked and served at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA for 29 years before retiring to Beaufort in 1987. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Beaufort, NC.
She is survived by two sons and their wives Charles and Helen Spivey of Richmond, VA and Nelson and Nancy Murphy of Virginia Beach, VA; one daughter and her husband Veronica and Sam Heidy of Morehead City, NC; two brothers David Allen, Jr., of Havelock, NC and Dr. Elms Allen of Winston-Salem, NC;five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Manly E. Murphy, her first husband Edgar Spivey who passed away in 1945, and three sisters Frances Jordan, Dorothy Rose Elliot, and Jane Robbins.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Oak Hill Academy, 2635 Oak Hill Rd., Mouth of Wilson, VA 24363.
