Mary Modlin McGraw

July 15, 1921 — May 5, 2011

Mary Modlin McGraw, 89, of Beaufort, NC died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Carteret General Hospital.

Services will be held 11:00 am Monday at First Baptist Church in Beaufort with Rev. Michael Fields, Rev. Merriett Watson, and Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Oceanview Cemetery.

Mrs. McGraw was born July 15, 1921 in Beaufort, NC. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Beaufort and an "adopted member" of Otway Christian Church, (DOC) where she attended with her daughter after her disabilities from a previous stroke.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy E. McGraw and wife, Vanessa of Newport; daughter, Mary Ann McGraw Mumford and husband, Jack of Beaufort; brother, James F. Modlin and wife, Beulah of Beaufort; grandchildren, Melonie McGraw Walsh and husband, Pat of Charlotte, Jimmy McGraw, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth of Morehead City, Michael McGraw and wife, Meghan of Charlotte, Mark Lewis of Wilmington, and Ashley Lewis Lawrence and husband, Jamie of Beaufort; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. Modlin and Ida Ange Modlin; husband, Harry E. McGraw; sisters, Beulah Modlin Salter, Lillie Bell Modlin Fulcher, Edith Modlin, and Carolyn Modlin Romano; brothers, Archie Modlin, David Modlin, Robert Modlin, and Curtis Modlin; and grandson, Timothy P. McGraw.

The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
