Mary is the co-founder of Cathedral of His Glory with her husband, Dr. C. Paul Willis. She was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus and reading her Bible.
Born on January 2, 1934 in Morehead City, NC, she loved the coast and often said she had salt water in her veins. Mary loved nature and all animals, especially her cats and chickens. She was a wonderful Southern cook and enjoyed gardening with the help of her John Deer Tractor.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dr. C. Paul Willis and her three children: daughters Deborah Causey (Stephen) and Tamra Willis (Dr. Michael Pelton) of Virginia, and her son, Rev. Dennis Willis. She was a loving mother and grandmother (Mimi) of 11 and great-grandmother of 6. She is also survived by her sister, Miriam Akins, of California and Donna Trent of Virginia; special sister-in-law Beverly Roberts; and her brother, Steven Roberts (Mardette) of Morehead City, NC.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Steven and Ruby Roberts; her in-laws, Paul and Bertha Willis; and her brothers, Leslie, Richard, and Marvin Roberts.
Special thanks go to her friend and loving caregiver Donna Coffer who sacrificed so much for her and the family. We also want to give a special thank you in appreciation to her granddaughter Adrian Vernon, who spent many nights caring and watching over her “Mimi.” To Hospice of Greensboro, thank you for your tender loving care.
