Mary Lucille Hardee Stutz, 84, of Havelock, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, from the Duke Medical Center.
Her funeral service will be held 4:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Havelock with Dr. Steve Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will be held at the Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC.
Mary was a long time teacher and educator. She received her Master’s Degree from Clarion State University. Her career included teaching for the Department of Defense in Nuremberg, Germany. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a librarian in Havelock with Arthur Edwards Elementary School and with the public library. She was a research librarian for Brockway Glass, Inc., as well as a greeter at Wal Mart. She loved birds, animals and her cat Creamy. She was an artist and enjoyed gardening. She was a proud wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucy Elizabeth Stutz, of the home; her son, Commander Scott S. Stutz and his wife Susan M. Hall-Stutz; grandson, Timothy Noah Stutz.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Major Sherwood S. Stutz, a U.S. Army Retiree; her mother, Elizabeth Hardee, and her father, Colonel David Hardee (U.S. Army Retired); sister, Elizabeth Remmers (Nee Hardee).
Visitation will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church.
