Mary Elizabeth (Salter) Smith

Mary Elizabeth Smith, 92, of Atlantic, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Carteret General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at Atlantic United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Steven Willis and Rev. George Gouge. Interment will follow at Atlantic Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary attended Atlantic United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four children, David Smith and wife, Donna of Atlantic, Mary Ellen Cardwell and husband Joe of Urbanna, VA, Nancy Willis and husband Steven of New Bern and Janet Tosto and husband Danny of Atlantic;daughter-in-law, Nicki Smith of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Russ Smith and wife Jackie, Beth Sanderson and husband Will and Greg Smith and friend Sheila all of Greenville, Melanie Perez and husband Garth of Tampa, FL, Sheila Phifer and husband Mark of Hampstead, Anne Gurley and husband Jamie of Pikeville, Lauren Hughes and husband John of Richmond, VA and Julie Black and husband Scott of Coats; sister-in-law, Roma Smith of Atlantic; also 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Smith, son, Charles Russell Smith, daughter, Amy Kathleen Goodwin, grandson, Michael Lee Tosto, great-grandson, Chase Aiden Phifer, parents, Oscar and Nannie Mae Salter, brothers, Walter and Oscar F. Salter, and sisters, Bertie Midgett, Inez Jones and Mildred Ayers.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Senior Lunch or Atlantic Community Cemetery Fund, c/o Atlantic United Methodist Church, 142 School Dr, Atlantic, NC 28511.
