Mary Laura (Guthrie) Austin
February 4, 1935 — April 28, 2014
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Crystal Coast Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Gene McLendon, and Rev. Joey Austin officiating.
Miss Mary was a graduate of Charles S. Wallace High School class of 1953. She was employed by Carteret County Clerk of Court Office from 1954-1973 at which time she was appointed Clerk of Court , a position she held and served until her retirement in 1986. She was a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a sister in-law Joyce Guthrie; a niece Kim Guthrie; seven nephews Kelly Guthrie (Dottie), Toby Guthrie,Jr., Donald Austin, Jr. (Nova),Michael Austin (Carol), Joey Austin (Debbie), Bobby Lee Austin (Cindy), and Jerry Austin; lifelong friend and "blood sister" Janice Ditto and husband Donald; God daughters Donna Miller, Sherley Buckland, and Mary Roberta Ditto; cousins Carl Mack Edwards, Charles Buster Edwards, Bobbie Dawn Humphreys, Julie Fulcher, Debra Burns, and Donald Guthrie; and many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Austin, parents Kelly and Lucille Lewis Guthrie, and a brother Toby Guthrie.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
