Marlin P. Sherron, Jr., 78, of Newport, died Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Carolina East Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Monday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Stallsworth officiating.
Mr. Sherron was born January 8, 1933 to Marlin P. Sherron and Audry Grady Sherron in Raleigh, Wake County, NC. He worked for First Citizens Bank for 26 years, and served in the US Army for three years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean K. Sherron of the home; daughter, Jan Sherron Rea and husband, Stephen of Charlottesville, Virginia; son, Scott Sherron and wife, Tammy of Havelock; seven grandchildren, Zach Finch of California, Abbey Finch of Newport, Jeffrey Rea, Jenna Rea, and Emily Rea, all of Charlottesville, VA, Austin Sherron of Wilmington, NC, and Griffin Sherron of Havelock, NC; sister, Louise S. Barnes and husband, Edward of Pinehurst, NC, and many extended family members.
The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cole Springs, KY 41076, or St. Peters United Methodist Church, 111 Hodges Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
