Mark Louis Sayger

CDR Mark Louis Sayger, 58, of Havelock, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018, in Havelock, NC.

His funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Open Door Baptist church with Reverend Jerry Linebarger officiating. Internment will immediately follow the funeral service at Gethsemane Memorial Park with military honors.

Mark was a faithful member of the Open Door Baptist church, and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He served his country in the United States Navy Civil Engineering Corps through 20 years of service as a Seabee and Navy Diver. Once he retired from the Navy, he then served the City of Havelock as their Public Services Director. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Susan Lee Haber, his senior High-School prom date; their children are daughters, Katherine Kusjanovic of Ashburn, VA, and Samantha Callaway of Wilmington, NC; sons, 2LT Matthew Sayger of Lawton, OK, and USMA CDT James Sayger of West Point, NY; brothers, Dan Sayger of Ormond Beach, FL, and Jack Sayger of Ridgeland, SC; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Yvonne Sayger.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
