Marion “Jack” Gentry, 92, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 29th at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Billy Knox.
Jack was born on January 12, 1932, in Grenada, Mississippi, to the late Glenn and Lena Gentry. After completing high school, Jack proudly served in the United States Navy, showcasing his dedication to his country. Following his military service, he had a fulfilling career in Civil Service, where he held a supervisory position.
A devoted member of Community Baptist Church, Jack's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was a loving husband for 70 years, a wonderful father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. His family remembers him for his unwavering love and guidance. Jack’s kindness and devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Emma M. Gentry; daughter, Kimberly Gentry Braswell (Elbert) of Newport; son, Gary Gentry (Phyllis) of Morehead City; brother, Donald Gentry of Arkansas; grandchildren, Courtney Braswell (Michael) and Shane Braswell (Megan); and great-grandchildren, Lance Parker, Malachi Braswell, and Stephen Braswell.
