Marie (Gillikin) Stafford

Marie Gillikin Stafford, 91, of Morehead City, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017, surrounded by her family at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport.

A memorial mass will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, April 10, 2017, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, with Father Tom Davis officiating. A visitation will follow the service at 313 Virginia Ave, Morehead City, NC 28557.

Marie was always known for her generosity and for being such a wonderful mother and grandmother. She often gave great advice and was completely full of wisdom. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking as well as quilting or sewing. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia McKee and husband Bo of Gloucester; sons, Jim Stafford and wife Sheree of Morehead City, Phillip Stafford and wife Gail of McKinney, TX, and Steven Stafford and wife Nancy of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Ellen Lawrence of Otway; grandchildren, Joshua, Nathan, Lauren, Kaitlin, Hannah, Jason, Jessica and wife Jennifer, Kate and husband Flav, Melissa, and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Ivey, June, Jacob, Alexandra, Kiley, Samantha, Madeline, Tyler, Ashla, and Ronnie; and her furry companions, Pixie and Bella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Stafford; parents, George and Violetta Gillikin; and brother, Hiram Gillikin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Marie to the Crystal Coast Hospice House, PO Box 640, Newport, NC 28570, or to St. Jude’s Research Hospital on their website.

The family would like to extend a special Thank-You to Dr. Jaworski and the staff of Carteret Health Care, as well as the staff of the Crystal Coast Hospice House for being so kind and compassionate throughout Marie’s stay.
