Marian Grey Rowe Lee, 81, of Morehead City left her earthly body for her glorified body on Thursday, March 30, 2017, surrounded by her daughter and family at the Crystal Coast Hospice House, to join the love of her life, her husband, James W. Lee and her sons, Darrel, Garry and Barry.
A funeral service for Marian will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Marian was born to Colie and Elsie Rowe of Small, NC on May 5, 1935. Marian graduated from Aurora High School in 1953.
Marian was a faithful Christian wife for 60 years until James passed away, last Good Friday, March 25, 2016 in the very same room at Crystal Coast Hospice House.
Marian, James and their children moved from Pamlico County to Morehead City in 1961, as James became the manager of A&P Grocery. Marian worked side by side with James at A&P until 1974 when they opened Lee’s IGA, in the Promise Land in Morehead City. Marian retired from the grocery store in February 1988 but continued to work as the Secretary-Treasurer for Temple Baptist Church. Marian and James were founding members of Temple Baptist Church in 1972. For 25 years Marian was dedicated to the church as Secretary-Treasurer, choir member, Vacation Bible School worker as well as responsible for all flower arrangements at the church.
Marian is survived by her daughter; Teresa Lee Lewis and husband Michael W. Lewis of Morehead City; grandsons, Gary M. Norris and wife Bethany of Newport, Craig M. Norris and wife Tasma of Newport, Joshua C. Lewis of Morehead City; great grandchildren, who she adored; Morgan L. Norris, Abbi M. Lewis and Michael B. Lewis; niece, Marsha Ireland and husband William of Lowland; nephews, James Rowe and wife Libby of Richlands, Hiram Lupton and wife Dee of Arapahoe, and Jamie Rowe of Kapaa, Hawaii.
She is preceded in death by her husband; James W. Lee; sons, Darrell Lee, Garry Lee, Barry Lee; sister, Gereld R. Lupton; and brothers James Rowe and Darryl Rowe.
A visitation for Marian will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank nurses and aides on the 100 hall at Crystal Bluffs for the care they gave Marian over the past year, also to Cindy Sides as she cared for her in her home. Carteret Health Care PCU Nurses for the past two weeks have been a blessing. Thank you also to Dr. Tumolo and Dr. Stewart for helping us understand Marian’s care. Crystal Coast Hospice House, you are so caring and a blessing to our family.
