Marga was born on December 20, 1930 in Gross-Gerau, Germany to Karl and Elisabeth (Reining) Baumann.

While working as an interpreter, she met Bernie Jessup, who was serving in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller in Frankfurt, Germany.  They married on August 8, 1950 in Bern, Switzerland.  After moving to Siler City, North Carolina in 1951, she became a naturalized citizen of the United States on December 6, 1955. They were divorced in 1974.

On May 7, 1977, she married Gregory Dixon of Salter Path, North Carolina. Marga is survived by her son, Thomas Albert Jessup (wife, Addie) of Newport, NC, and daughter, Rebecca Jessup Hamilton (husband Curtis) of Jacksonville, Florida, her five grandchildren, Buddy Durham, Susie Piner, Tina Henderson, Sherrie Culpepper, and Rebecca Grosskopf, twenty great- grandchildren and twenty-six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Dixon, her infant twin sons, Timothy and Anthony, her sister, Anne McCoy, her brother Albert Baumann, and her granddaughter, Lori Lee,

Marga’s ashes will be interred with her late husband, Greg’s at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport, North Carolina at a private family ceremony.  Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Philip Neri Animal Ministry or the Jacksonville Humane Society.

Jesus said, “Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”  John 16:22
