Margaret Loraine Carter Murdoch

Margaret Loraine (Carter) Murdoch, 96, of Morehead City, NC, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC. 

A memorial service to honor Margaret’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 30th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jeff Mizzell. The family will receive friends following the service with a reception. Margaret will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Margaret was born in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Arch and Mollie Via Carter. She was a faithful member of Wildwood Presbyterian Church and loved the Lord. She started her day off by reading "Our Daily Bread" devotional. 

She was employed for several years with Mary Elizabeth's Dress Shop in Beaufort and enjoyed the lasting friendships that she made there. Prior to that, she worked at Bennett's Dress Shop in Morehead City. 

Margaret was an avid gardener and loved sharing her knowledge with family and friends, as well as her flowers. She always had beautiful roses and could root them too. In her neighborhood, she helped establish a rose garden and there is a plaque there that reads, "Miss Margaret's Rose Garden”.

Margaret is survived by her son, Leon T. Murdoch, Jr. (Anne) of Pittsboro, NC; daughter, Charlotte M. Wildey of Hubert, NC; grandchildren, Carter T. Murdoch of Morehead City, NC, Julianne O'Daniel (Brandon) of Chapel Hill, NC, Daniel C. Wildey, VA, and Danielle M. Lewandowski of Lawrenceville, VA; and great-grandchildren, Finn O'Daniel, Tolson O'Daniel, Phoebe O'Daniel, and Jonathan Lewandowski. 

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Tolson Murdoch, Sr., and her son-in-law Glen W. Wildey, Jr. She is the last remaining sibling of 12 children. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Meals on Wheels - Hope Mission, 1209 Arendall Street, Morehead City, NC 28557 or Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 276 Wildwood Road, Newport, NC, 28570.
