Malcolm Winfield Bone Jr.

Malcolm Winfield Bone Jr., 89, of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at his home.

A memorial service to honor Malcolm's life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 4th, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jake Young.

Malcolm was born on May 25, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Malcolm Sr. and Nellie Bone. He was a veteran, serving honorably in the United States Coast Guard. He led by example, tirelessly giving back to his community through volunteering with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club, the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium, and Meals on Wheels. A devout Christian, Malcolm was a pillar of his church, serving faithfully as a deacon and elder. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. 

He enjoyed fishing and boating, he just loved being on the water. His love of nature extended into his hobbies, which included wood carving of ducks and other coastal birds, a skill he practiced with much enthusiasm and detail. Malcolm was known for being incredibly handy, there was almost nothing he couldn’t repair or create. 

Malcolm cherished his family, which was no surprise, he was so proud of them and all that they had accomplished over the years. Malcolm had a special bond with his precious dogs, the most recent Buster, who would sing or howl a song along with him and make everyone smile. Malcolm was a gifted storyteller, who could make any occasion fun and uplifting. He will be deeply missed and cherished by his loved ones.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Susan Elizabeth Bone Kunz (Keven) of Wake Forest, NC, and Bonnie Jean Bone Chambers (Charles) of Wilmington, NC; and grandchildren, Madeline, Daphne, Alex, Emily, Holden, and Andrew.

In addition to his parents, Malcolm was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Hoffman Bone; daughter, Linda Louise Bone Aldridge; and brother, Robert “Bob” Bone.
