Mahala Lynn Anderton

Mahala Lynn Anderton, 55, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Morehead City, North Carolina, where she was visiting family.

A celebration of Mahala's life will be held at a later date. Those details will be shared once finalized.

Mahala was born on September 17, 1969, to George Lewis and Ella Geneva Anderton, in Rocky Mount, NC. 

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, Paul G. Battaglia (Megan) and her 2 grandchildren, Hunter and Sophia Battaglia, all of Jacksonville, FL; her mother, Geneva Davis of Newport, NC; 5 sisters, Cheryl Childress of California, Robin Wells (Jamie) of Rocky Mount, NC, Linda Clay (Jerry) of Newport, NC, Genny Upchurch of Atlantic Beach, NC, and Denise Warbritton (David) of Morehead City, NC; brothers, Don Anderton of Nashville, NC and Leslie Anderton of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews and dear friends. Mahala loved her friends and family dearly and she will be greatly missed by all.

Mahala was preceded in death by her father, George Lewis Anderton; sister, Tina Anderton Pitts; brothers, Richard Owen Hopkins, Wayne Anderton and Buddy Anderton; brother-in-law, Donny Upchurch; nephew, Richie Hopkins; stepfather, Delmar Davis Sr.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
