Mae Herndon

Mae Herndon, 79, of Salter Path, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.
Ms. Herndon served in the U.S. Marine Corps. She was a member of the American Legion Post #41, VFW Post #9960, and the Moose Lodge in Swansboro.
She is survived by her partner of 47 years, Carolyn Pate of Salter Path; daughters, Elizabeth “Liz” Helen Chandler and wife Ginny of Magnolia, TX and Belinda Ann Chavez of Madras, OR,; son, James Bennett Chandler of Gaithersburg, MD; brother, Robert Kennedy of Fresno, CA; seven grandchildren; and her extended family, Carol Studenberg and family, Sam Snipes and Bobbie Lancaster, Donnie Snipes, and Harold Snipes.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Mae Hicky; brother, Jimmy Herndon; and sister, Elizabeth Pearl Paplinski.
