Lula Belle Merrill, 71, of Otway, NC, went home to be with her loved ones, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Pruitt Healthcare in Sea Level, NC.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Otway Christian Church, officiated by Reverend Jack Mumford. Interment will follow at Cleveland Gillikin Cemetery in Otway.
Belle was born and raised in Otway “on the corner.” She loved life, laughing, and making jokes. Belle was an accomplished cook that will be remembered for her cheese biscuits. A very giving woman that never turned away anyone that was in need.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Benjamin “Ben” Merrill; daughter, Crystal Moore and husband, Tony of Harkers Island; son, “Benji” Merrill and wife, Tomi of Otway; grandchildren, Austin Moore, Landon Merrill, and Carma Merrill; sisters, Audrey Parnell and husband, James of Otway, and Gladys Garner and husband, Jimmy of Newport.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Lula Gillikin; brothers, Eric Gillikin, Jim Gillikin, Albert Gillikin, and Ray Gillikin.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
