Luis "Abo" Mandiola, 85 of Morehead City, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at his residence.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 on Thursday, 23 December, at St. Egbert Catholic Church, 1706 Evans Street, Morehead City, NC, with Father Douglas Smiley presiding.

"Abo", originally from Cuba, moved to North Carolina with his wife "Abi" in 2003, to join his family.  Before moving to NC, they enjoyed 34 wonderful years in Panama.  His passion was his family and his love for them, unconditional.  "Abo" will live in his family's hearts forever in the life lessons that he taught them, and the love that he gave his family.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Silvia Mandiola of Morehead City; daughter, Silvia "Cookie" East and husband, James of Morehead City; sister, Pilar Garcia of Venezuela; grandsons, Thomas Herron and wife, Lauren of Charlotte, and Luis Herron of Morehead City; and great-grandson, Giancarlo Herron.

The family will receive friends at their home, 108 Woodridge Drive, Morehead City, on Wednesday, 22 December, from 6:00pm until.
