Lucille Barefield Bell, 94, of Morehead City went home to be with our Heavenly Father, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service will be held 4:00 pm Saturday, October 24, 2015 at St. Peter’s Methodist Church with Pastor Karl Zorowski officiating.
Lucille was born in Millen, Georgia in the year 1921. In 1942 she married Grover C. Bell and they later moved to Newport News, VA, where they resided for 60 years before moving to Morehead City. Lucille was an active member of Morrison Methodist Church in Virginia. She was a member of the Eubanks Circle, a Red Cross Volunteer and several Square Dancing Clubs for many years. She and Grover spent their retirement years traveling and developed many new friendships. However, she considered her best “job” to be that of a Mother and Wife. She truly enjoyed the art of cooking and doing for her family. One of her great loves was children, she always found something special about each child and would constantly praised them when speaking about them.
We will miss her sweet smile and comforting words, but know that she is at home with our Heavenly Father and she is at peace.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Robert Elkins; one granddaughter and her husband, Tara and Ashley Davis of Raleigh; and one sister, Helen Murphy of Newport News, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Bell.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Dr. and Mrs. King Memorial Fund, 2007 B Neuse Blvd. New Bern, NC 28560.
