Louis Peter Teer, Jr, 63, of Morehead City, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the home.

Lou was born in Amityville, New York on April 29, 1953. He attended parochial and public schools in Brookfield, CT. He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1971 and in 1975 he earned his BS in Fundamental Science from Lehigh University. He married Pallas Zeller Teer in 1972. Lou and Pallas enjoyed 45 years together. Lou started graduate work in Biology under the tutelage of Dr. Bradford Owen before being called to USAF pilot training at Williams AFB in Arizona. He completed Army Airborne and survival training. He graduated from pilot training in June of 1976 and was assigned to the 6MAS at McGuire AFB in New Jersey where he would honorably serve his country for 20 years. He was activated for Operation Desert Shield/Storm and he finished his military career, as a Lt. Col., in the Air Force Reserves. Lou worked for commercial airlines for 25 years, flying as a pilot for People Express, Continental, and United Air Lines.

Lou, in his leisure time, enjoyed being with his family, cycling, birding, sailing, gardening, and riding around with the top down in his roadster. He was extremely proud of his two sons, and delighted in being a grandfather.

Lou is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pallas Zeller Teer; two sons Jamie Teer and wife Nicole of Odessa, FL, and Brad Teer of Morehead City; mother, Nettie Sue Teer of Tampa, FL; sisters, Sue Howarth of New York City, NY, Candie and husband Jack Leunig of Kansas City, KS; granddaughter, Isla Teer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lou was preceded in death by his father, Louis Peter Teer.
