Louis Edmund Aiello

“Uncle Louie” Louis Edmund Aiello, age 87, of Atlantic went home to join his loving wife Edna Earle on May 2, 2017.   He came to be affectionately known by all that knew him as “Uncle Louie”.

A Celebration of Life Service for Uncle Louie will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Atlantic United Methodist Church  with Pastor George Gouge officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00pm-3:00pm, prior to the service.

Uncle Louie was born on November 29, 1929 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to John and Laura Aiello.  His service in the United States Marine Corps brought him to DownEast, NC where he met wife Edna at the Busy Bee restaurant in Morehead City, NC.  They were married on February 1, 1951.

Uncle Louie worked as a machinist for Ford Motor Company for many years while living in Wisconsin before moving back to North Carolina in the early 1970’s.      He embraced the DownEast culture, loved clamming and working on the water.

Through the years, he was a strong asset to the community and organizations such as the Boy Scouts.  Uncle Louie continued to be an active member of the Atlantic United Methodist Church.  He was a proud and loyal serviceman and veteran of the Marine Corps.

Uncle Louie was greatly loved by both residents and staff at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay where he flourished as the beloved bingo caller and was awarded volunteer of the year for many years.

Louie and wife Edna enjoyed 62 years of marriage and life together along with loved family  here and in Wisconsin. His feline companion, Babe was his pride and joy.

Until we meet again,  Uncle Louie will be deeply missed by his loving family and dear friends  in both the DownEast area and Wisconsin.
