Lou Ann Lyerly

Lou Ann Mason Lyerly, 81, of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Carolina East Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with the Rev. Ed Renfrow officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Lou Ann was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Beaufort. An avid gardener, she found great joy planting flowers in her yard.
Lou Ann is survived by her daughter, Joanne Lyerly of Otway; two sons, Leslie Paul Lyerly and wife Pam of Sanford, and Edward Lyerly and wife Melodi of Otway; five grandchildren, Andrew Lyerly, Allison Lyerly Pridgen, Kristen Harvey, Kaylyn Nilsen, and Dylan Lyerly; and three great-grandchildren, Liam Harvey, Cole Lyerly and Joseph Elliot.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph “Joe” Lyerly; her parents, Leslie D. and Alvelta (Skarren) Mason; and a granddaughter, Claren Kelly Lyerly.
The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service at Munden Funeral Home.
