Lori Lynn Bowman, 40, of Newport, NC was a patient at Carteret General Hospital when called home by the Lord early Friday, May 20, 2011, surrounded by family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel.
Lori was born in Winston-Salem on April 8, 1971 and raised in the Pine Chapel Moravian Church. After moving to Carteret County she never forgot her love of the Moravian Church. She graduated from West Carteret High School and UNC-Chapel Hill. Her career included the positions of a sales representative for computer components, a PGA Tour representative, and a large event planning consultant in Charlotte, NC. She also worked in recruiting management for information technology and nursing.
Although born with a brittle bone disease, she never let it hold her back and enjoyed life to her full potential. She was active in the OIF Foundation from research to supporting patients. She loved to travel, read, and learn new things. She loved the restaurant business from both sides, whether enjoying food or working with the chefs in preparing food. She also had a love of the water, enjoying the beach and boating. The company of family and friends was important to her and she always remembered people on their special days. She had the ability to see the good in people and bring it out.
Lori is survived by her mother, Sandra Weavil Bowman; one brother, Chris Bowman; fiancé, Michael Mann, and the Mike Mann family; uncle, Coyt Bowman; aunt and uncle, Janice and Paul Simpson; cousins, Greg Simpson and Eric Simpson; maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Eldridge, and her special four-legged friend, Bogey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Bowman, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Bill and Opal Bowman; and maternal grandfather, Byron Weavil.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday at Munden Funeral Home.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Mary Katherine Lawrence for being both a friend and doctor, the staff of Down East Medical, and longtime doctor and friend Matthew Zettl.
