Lois Melrose Powell, 79, of Newport, NC, died Thursday, December 2, 2010, at her residence.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Monday at Gethsemane Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Carroll officiating. Entombment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Mrs. Powell was a member of Newport Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Powell of the home; children, Lois Marie Usina of Sanford, NC, Betty Jean Mullins, Doris Ann Russell, James Robert Powell, and Karen McGregor, all of Newport, NC; sisters, Willow Dean Bryant of Dunn, NC, Erlean Jackson of Houses Mill, NC, Emma Mae of Clinton, NC, Ellen Jernikin, and Linda Brent, both of Dunn, NC; half-brother, James Maynard of Dunn, NC; four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
