Lois May (Arnold) Heffelfinger
July 21, 1929 — June 13, 2017
Lois Arnold Heffelfinger, 87, of Pine Knoll Shores, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Greenville, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 16, 2017, at All Saints Anglican Church, 292 McCabe Rd., Newport, with Reverend David Linka officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
She was born in Buffalo, NY. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Buffalo. She spent most of her life raising her three children but taught Chemistry, Physics, and Advanced Science at Circleville (OH) High School for 10 years. She and her husband, Dr. Carl John Heffelfinger, who predeceased her, retired to Pine Knoll Shores in 1984. She served as a volunteer EMT with the Pine Knoll Shores Rescue Squad for 13 years.
She is survived by children, Ann H. Barnhill and husband, John of Greenville, Susan Carol Shank and husband, David of Cincinnati, and Paul Heffelfinger and wife, Barbara of Beaufort; and grandchildren, Richard Barnhill and wife, Megan, Amy Barnhill Smith and husband, Blake, Benjamin Shank and wife, Katherine, Joshua Shank, Evangeline Shank, Elizabeth Heffelfinger, and Clayton Heffelfinger, and wife, Crystal; great-grandchildren, Samuel Shank, and Owen and Emily Smith.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to All Saints Anglican Church Altar Guild.
