Linwood E. Swinson

January 19, 1939 — June 30, 2015

Linwood E. Swinson DCCM USCG Retired,76, of Morehead City passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Carteret General Hospital.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, July 3, 2015 at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. David Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

He was a member of Indian River Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA.,and attended Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City, NC. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, VFW Post # 2401, the U. S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association, and the American Legion in Morehead City, NC.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Byrd Swinson; son, Steven Mark Swinson and wife Renee of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Norma Midgett, Irma Oliver, Coleen Ferree, and Gray Pollard; two grandchildren, Lillie McKenna, and Zach Swinson; also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Lillie Bruton Swinson;  son, Reginald Linwood Swinson; four brothers, Jesse Ray Swinson, R.L. Swinson, Reginald Swinson, Earl Swinson; and two sisters, Faye Conte and Rita Cannon.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
