Linda Sue Sunderland

Linda Sue Sunderland, 79, of New Bern, North Carolina, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at her home.

The family will plan a service at a later date.

Linda was born on March 30, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Curtis and Lura Clary. She had a deep love for her hometown and cherished memories of her upbringing. Linda dedicated over 25 years of her life as an administrative assistant at Merrill Lynch, where she was known for her diligence, kindness, and commitment to her work.

In 2017, Linda embarked on a new chapter of her life, moving to New Bern. She spent her days immersed in her love of reading and coloring. She also enjoyed trips to the ocean to soak in the salt air and sunshine. Linda was a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and cherished.

Those left to treasure her memory are daughters, Christine Marie Newcomer (Keith) of Reisterstown, Maryland, Michele Sue Douglas (Steven) of New Bern, North Carolina; sister, Peggy Thompson (Clayton) of Parkview, Maryland; grandchildren, Jessica Douglas, Justin Newcomer, Shannon Daniello; and great-grandson, Charlie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald Clary, Durrell Clary, Gene Clary; and grandson, Jason Newcomer.
