Born on September 28, 1954, in Morehead City, North Carolina, Linda was the daughter of the late James and Geneva Golden. She spent her formative years in Chesapeake, Virginia, and later returned, with her siblings, to North Carolina to live with her Aunt Lovie in Otway.

Linda's determination and hard work culminated in passing the CPA exam, earning her professional license, which opened doors for her to work with esteemed firms such as Joy Bell and Associates, RSM, and P.B. Living on the coast was a perfect fit for Linda. She loved spending time at the beach soaking in the sun and listening to the crashing of the waves, it was certainly her happy place.

Murphy; daughter, Sara Murphy Simtaji (Bahati) of Winston-Salem, NC; grandsons, Harrison, Elijah, and Christian Simtaji of Winston-Salem; brothers, James Golden, Jr. of Otway, NC and Kenneth Golden of Florida; brother-in-law, Bruce Bell of Newport, NC; niece, Tammy Bell of Lenoir, NC; and numerous grandnieces and nephew.
