Linda Thrower Godwin, 79, of Newport, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Born on September 19, 1945, in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Linda was the daughter of the late Lucius and Lillian Thrower. With a remarkable career spanning 40 years, Linda dedicated her professional life to Carolina Power / Progress Energy, where she served as a District Manager.

A devoted member of Parkview Baptist Church for over four decades, Linda's faith was central to her life. She actively participated in numerous ministries, serving on church boards, teaching youth groups, and engaging in countless Bible studies that enriched both her life and the lives of those around her. Her passion for helping others was seen through her work on the Board at the Domestic Violence Program in New Bern, NC, where she empowered survivors in their courageous journeys toward safety and security. Linda was also a valued member of the New Bern Businesswomen’s Group, fostering connections and friendship within her community.

Linda embraced her love for crafts and created beautiful cross-stitch pieces that showcased her artistic spirit. She loved living on the coast where she enjoyed fishing, spending time at the beach, and visiting her favorite spot at Drum Inlet. A talented baker, Linda delighted family and friends with her special recipes, particularly her banana bread, strawberry bread, and her late husband Earl’s favorite, banana pudding.

Linda's legacy is one of faith, service, and deep love for her family and community. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen Godwin Baggett (Brian Patrick Lowry) of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; sisters, Sally T. Gordon (Douglas) of Goldsboro, NC and Lisa Lawrence of Newport, NC; nephew, Michael Gordon (Jerrye) of Cape Carteret, NC; niece, Michele Ramsey (Reggie) of LaGrange, NC; grandchildren, C.J.
