Lily Garner

October 29, 1922 — April 19, 2010

Lily Dale Garner, 87, of Newport, died Monday,April 19, 2010 at Britthaven of Newport.

Mrs. Garner served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II and the Koren War. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 203 in Newport, the Ladies Auxillary Unit 203, and was past President, the Carteret County Pilot Club, and was the past Chaplain, the Senoir Citizens Caroliners Line Dancers, and served on the Newport Pig Cooking Committee .

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at St. James United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Lindblade officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

She is survived by her dear friend, Milton Warren of Newport; son, Benny Chase Parish and wife Sheila of Newport; granddaughter, Amy Melissa Parish of Charlotteville, VA; grandson, J.W. Condon, III of Newport; stepson, Kenneth Garner and wife Louise of New Bern; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benny Garner and Susanne Garner, and two husbands, Robert Parish and Carlton Garner and a son, Ricky Joe Parish.

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home.
