Lillie Marilla (McLamb) Griffin

Lillie Marilla McLamb Griffin, 95, of Morehead City, passed away Tuesday, February 12­, 2019, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. John Carswell. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Mrs. Griffin was born September 19, 1923 in Johnston County, daughter of the late Sir Milton McLamb Sr. and Lucinda Allen McLamb.  She grew up near Four Oaks and graduated from Four Oaks High School. She later attended business college in Richmond, Virginia and worked for the Federal Government in Washington, DC until the birth of her son in 1952.

She is survived by her beloved son, William Chester Griffin, Jr. of Morehead City; sister, Virginia Thompson of Greenville, NC; brothers,  Herbert McLamb Allen and wife Sarah of Garner, NC and Thomas Linwood McLamb and wife Jackie of Greeneville, TN; and in-laws, Evalina McLamb of Winston Salem and Jimmy Hege of Newport.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, William Chester Griffin, Sr.; step-mother, Mrs. Claudia Johnson McLamb; sisters, Emma Lou McLamb Parker and Betty McLamb-Hege; and brother, Sir Milton McLamb, Jr.

Family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home.
