Lillian B. Stanley

Lillian B. Stanley, 94, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service to honor Lillian’s life will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, February 15, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Thomas Fryar. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Lillian was born on August 10, 1930, in Morehead City, North Carolina, to the late Jerry and Izora Hodge. She was a devoted member of Purvis Chapel AME Zion Church in Beaufort. Lillian loved the Lord and found great peace in her faith. She lived her life as a testament to God’s love and grace. 

Lillian was known for her sweet and loving spirit. She was a hardworking woman who dedicated over 50 years of service to Sunshine Cleaners.

You could find Lillian in the kitchen, where she was famous for her delicious fried chicken, which she prepared for family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, always making sure they were cared for and well-fed. 

Her presence and love will be deeply missed by her precious friends and family.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, James Edward Stanley Jr. (Nikiti) of Apalachicola, Florida, John Everett Stanley (Carol) of Abbeville, Louisiana, and Craig Conway Stanley (Brenda) of Beaufort, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; special niece, Ophelia Chambers of Morehead City; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Stanley Sr.; sisters, Henrietta Monroe, Vinella Jones; and brothers, Emerson Hodge and James Hodge.
