Lester Maxton Gaskill

February 10, 1927 — November 6, 2013

Mr. Lester Maxton Gaskill passed away on 6 November 2013 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Lester was a US Air Force Veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War.  He was a faithful member of the Stacy Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, church pianist and choir director.  He retired from the Air Force and the Housing Department at MCAS Cherry Point NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Romain and Gladys Gaskill, his wife, Margie Lane Gaskill, and his son, Perry Gaskill.

He is survived by his daughter, Katheryn Gaskill and her husband Robert Clifton; sister in-law Vergie Gaskill; two nieces, Phyllis Hunnings and husband Melvin of Otway and Deborah Whittington and husband Don of Dunn; great niece, Stephanie and husband Mark Hancock of Havelock; great great nephew Preston Henry of Havelock and great great niece Alyssa Willis of Harlowe; cousins, Ginger and Mike Johnson of Kinston, Graham, Vickie and Laura Knott of Kinston, Gina and Patrick Reynolds of Kinston, Bruce Riegel of Raleigh and special sitter and friend Gentille Brimmer of Havelock.

Graveside services will be on Tuesday, November 12 at 11:00 at the Stacy Community Cemetery, with Rev. Ernest Laxton officiating, followed by US Air Force honors.  The family will receive friends for lunch following the service at the Stacy Free Will Baptist Church.
