Lester Dickinson
February 5, 1923 — June 18, 2010
Lester "Bill" Wallace Dickinson, 87, of Core Creek, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at Carteret General Hospital.
He was an avid gardner, who shared his produce with the community, His favorite trip was riding to his garden in his golf cart with his dog Rusty at his side. He always loved to fish and hunt. He went oystering for many years and enjoyed inviting his family and friends to his oyster roasts.
Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Core Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Para Drake officiating. Interment will follow in the Core Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Irene Dickinson; sons, James Earl Dickinson and wife Linda, John Wallace Dickinson and wife Kathy and Pete Stinson and wife Debra, all of Core Creek; grandchildren, Tonya Starr Dickinson of Core Creek, John Michael Dickinson and wife Summer of Beaufort, Jeremy Dickinson and wife June of Wilmington and Jamie Lynn Price and husband Adam of Core Creek; great grandchildren, Caroline Dickinson and Tucker Dickinson, both of Wilmington and his best friend and cousin, Edsel Bell and family of Harlowe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alberta Dickinson of Core Creek; brother, Earl Dickinson, Jr. of CA; twin sister, Esther Young of Raleigh and sister, Lula Belle Dill of Chesapeake, VA.
The family will receive friends 7:00 - 9:00 pm Monday at Munden Funeral Home.
