Lester Grady Day

Lester Grady Day, 78, of Cedar Island, died Monday, April 13, 2015 at Carteret General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Cedar Island United Methodist Church with Rev. Darcy Knight officiating.
Lester was a man of the sea, a core sound waterman. He worked and provided for his family while getting to enjoy his vocation and passion of commercial fishing. Born and raised on Cedar Island he witnessed the daily ebb and flow of the tides and on Monday he untied his bowline for his last ride down Cedar Island Bay. Forever loved and missed-good fishing Daddy.
He is survived by a sons Gregory Day and wife Cindy, and Karl Day and wife Susan; a daughter Violet Day; grandchildren Candace, Kendra, Dana, Kayla, and Cameron; brothers Gilbert Day, Carlton Day, and Rodney Day; sisters Agatha Goodwin, and Nancy Willis; and his favorite four legged pal "Sonny".
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Day, parents Claude and Mertie Day, and a brother Ira Paul Day.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
