Leo "Sam" Clemens Whaley

June 22, 1925 — July 11, 2014

Leo "Sam" Whaley, 89, of Morehead City, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Nate Leonard and Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.

Sam was a member of First Baptist Church of Morehead City. He was the owner of 24 Street Service Station for 14 years, and owner and operator of AAA Recaping and Tire Service in Havelock for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife Gloria Ann Whaley of the home; a son Leo Clemens Whaley, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; daughter Clara Sanderson Bernstain of Morehead City; one granddaughter Lori Bernstein Wallace and husband Eddie of Newport, NC; two sisters Elsie Mae Wynne of Virginia Beach, VA, and Edna Gray Kahny of Newport, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
