Leonard Arnold Goodwin Sr. of Sea Level, went to meet his Savior on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay in Sea Level, surrounded by all his loving family.

A funeral service will be held ­­2:00 pm Monday, November 2, 2015 at Sea Level Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Nelson Bay Cemetery.

Leonard was born November 13, 1926, to Dennis and Dollie Goodwin in Cedar Island, the 7th of 10 children. He began working on the water at a young age, which he continued for over 70 years. On January 2, 1952 he married Bernice Lupton and they had seven Children to add joy to his life. He worked very hard to support his family, an effort which he enjoyed, but he also loved to play the guitar and sing. He was a tender hearted and loving person, especially toward his family, and greeted everyone he knew with a smile.

He is survived by his; three daughters, Jeannie Mason and husband Gordie of Newport, Sandra Garrison and husband Bob of Beaufort, and Susan Chadwick and husband Temple of Gloucester; four sons, Lenny and wife Meriam, Phillip and wife Libby, both of Sea Level, Marcus and wife Crystal and Charles and wife Laura, both of Atlantic, 23 grandchildren: Joy, Bonnie, John, Jason, Jane, Amy, Sarah, Heather, Renee, Patrick, David, Doug Felicia, Phillip Jr, Andrew, Audra, Temple Earl, Rebekah, Maggie, CJ, Sandra Jean, Meredith, Katelyn and 23 great grandchildren; one sister, Norma Boyd of Morehead City also a special nephew, Dallas Goodwin and a favorite niece Clarice Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Dolly Goodwin; four sisters, Ada, Aileen, Christine, and June; four brothers, Milton, Dallas, Ronald and Dennis Jr.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sea Level Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 40 Sea Level, NC 28577,

Carteret County Fisherman’s Association, PO Box 76 Davis, NC 28524.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Sea Level Missionary Baptist Church.
