Lemuel "Allen" Elliott, 85, of Newport, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Britthaven of Newport.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Lindblade officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Elliott was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, were he served as Sunday School Superintendant for 20 years. He was a member of the Newport Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Retha H. Elliott of the home; son Virgil A. Elliott of the home; sisters Bonnie F. Schaner of Grand Rapids, MI, and Edna Mae Ewell of Gates, NC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church.
