Lem H. Hardy, Jr., 90, of South River, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his residence.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Edwards Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Francis Garner officiating. Interment will follow at the Hardy Family Cemetery.
Mr. Hardy was a lifetime member of Edwards Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He is a retired Law Enforcement Supervisor with the North Carolina Marine Fisheries.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Caretta Rhue Hardy; daughter, Linda Pittman of South River; son, Bruce Hardy and wife Kathy of South River; three grandchildren, Lori Shadday and husband Marvin and Paul Pittman and wife Ashley all of Morehead City and Lem Hardy of Benson; and six greatgrandchildren, Christopher Perri and wife Stephanie, Mallory Gilvin and husband Nick, Emily Shadday, Trey Pittman, Tanner Mills and Emma Pittman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lem and Lydia Hardy, brothers, Floyd Hardy and Hyde Lupton, and son-in-law, Larry Pittman.
The family will receive friends following the services.
