L. Edward "Capt. Ed" Cannon

L. Edward "Capt. Ed" Cannon, 73, of South River, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Carolina East Medical Center.
A funeral will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Patterson officiating, assisted by Rev. Harold Harbin. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cannon worked all his life as a commercial fisherman. He was a retired member of South River Volunteer Fire & Rescue, a member of Edwards Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, and served in the National Guard for six years.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sandra Cannon of the home; sister, Marie Wallace of South River; sister-in-law, Nancy Cannon of South River; three aunts, Mable Courtney of Bridgeton, Hilda Beacham of Beaufort and Dollie Carraway of South River; uncle, Ralph Eubanks of Asheville; three nieces, Ann Joyner, Susan Stuchel and Debbie Cannon; two nephews, Bryan Wallace and Gary Cannon; and his special dogs, Prissy and Blacky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vera Cannon, and brother, William Lloyd Cannon.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Munden Funeral Home.
