Larry C. Whitlow

Larry Carl Whitlow, 69, of Atlantic Beach, NC, formerly of Greenville, NC, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Harborview of Morehead City. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Jasper Whitlow and father, William Carl Whitlow.
Mr. Whitlow served in the Naval Reserves and the Army . He was president and owner of Larry’s Carpetland in Greenville, NC from 1968 - 2008. He was also the owner of Larry’s Carpet One store in Morehead City from 1990 to 2008. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Morehead City, NC. Larry was very civic minded and volunteered with the Jaycees, Pirates Club, Shriners, Elks Lodge and many other organizations as well as served as President of Retail Flooring Association. He also had a deep love for the water, zest for life and always had a terrific outlook on life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joy West Whitlow, his daughter, Lisa Whitlow Batts and husband, James Batts, Jr. of Raleigh, NC ; his son Randolph L. Whitlow of Greenville, NC and his son Jason S. Whitlow and wife, Jessica of Corapeake, NC; his sister Patsy Cannon of Newport, NC and grandson, Eli Whitlow of Corapeake, NC as well as his loving and faithful dog, Buddy. He is also survived by his nephew Reggie Cannon of Morehead City, NC and Ricky Cannon of Lafayette, LA.
The family will receive friends at Munden’s Funeral Home in Morehead City, NC on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Morehead City, NC on Wednesday, January 9 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Carteret County PO Drawer 1619 Morehead City, NC 28557.
