Larry Franklin Sherrer, 70, of Newport, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at his home.
A memorial service to honor Larry’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 12th at Munden Funeral Home, with military honors, officiated by Rev. Tim Whealton.
Larry was born on March 10, 1953, in Rantoul, Illinois, to the late Andy and Erma Sherrer. He grew up with a deep passion for cars and guns. His love for vehicles was evident in his early years when he used to drag race and as he grew older, he dedicated many hours to working on cars. Larry was quite the marksman and was a civilian marksmanship program member.
A proud and honorable Marine, Larry served his country with unwavering dedication. He took the principles he was taught to heart. He was one of the kindest fellows who would willingly give you the shirt off his back. Larry was a loving family man. He cherished his time with his children, and grandchild, leaving them with precious memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carmen Nicole Sherrer (Zachary Levine) of Newport, NC; sister, Michelle Maxine Trudeau (John Trudeau) of Rockville, VA; brothers, Andy Leonard Sherrer of Chesterfield, VA, and Richard Eugene Sherrer (Kim Sherrer) of Bethlehem, PA; and his granddaughter, Eloise Scarlett O’Neal.
