Larry Douglas Salter, 57,  passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. with his family and pastor at his bedside.

A funeral will be held 2:00 Friday at the Broad Creek Church of God Church with Rev. Wesley Holmes officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sarah and Carlie Salter of Broad Creek, N.C. He is survived by his sister, Wanda Lamoreaux and her husband, Harold Lamoreaux of Broad Creek, N.C. His other suriving relatives are his nephew, Chris Lamoreaux, nephew, Jamie Lamoreaux with his wife April Lamoreaux of Cincinnati. He is also survived by his niece Amy Lamoreaux Avery, her husband Buddy Avery, and his great niece, Kayleigh Avery of Broad Creek, N.C.

Larry worked for Waste Industries, the town of Morehead City, and as a fireman former Cheif of Broad and Gales Creek Fire Department, and he worked for the Morehead City Fire Department, where he finally retired, and for a short time with the EMS. After retirement, he went back to Waste Industries, which is now Republic Services of New Bern. He worked for them for 8 years. Larry really enjoyed his work and meeting and talking to people. He also attended The Broad Creek Church of God, which he loved. He was loved by his family and will forever be missed. A part of my heart is gone and I will surely be lost without you.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at the Broad Creek Church of God.
