Larry D. Moore, 78, of Pine Knoll Shores, NC, passed away on Thursday October 20, 2011. Larry was born on September 21, 1933 in Martinsville VA, son of Lillie Gray Minter and George D. Moore Jr.

Larry joined the Air Force at the Age of 17 and served in Texas and Greenland during the Korean War. He returned to marry the love of his life, Becky Moore, also from Martinsville VA. Larry graduated from the University of Richmond, taught school and entered into the Jewelry Business starting as a parttime clerk, then worked his way up to Marketing Director of the former chain "The Jewel Box Corporation." He also worked as the Marketing Director for Victor Kiam with Wells Benerous and then started his own company in 1973: Concept Marketing, Inc.

Larry had developed one of the first one-step ear piercing instruments back in the 70's, the first in the Jewelry Industry to plate gold directly onto surgical steel, and made the Name Brand Concepts allergy free earrings. Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed sunsets, dabbled in painting, was an avid sailor, and even ventured into boat building. Larry participated in local and international sailing races including the Newport to Bermuda Race and was a member of the winning team on the Stormy Petrel in the Miami to Montego Bay race.A former member of the Elks Club of Attleboro MA, and then locally a former president of the Bouge Banks Country Club and member of the Morehead City Yaucht club and Cotery.

Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Becky Moore, Daughter Lisa Thompson and her husband Mike Thomspon of Annapolis MD, Daughter Terry Turner and her husband Jacob Turner of Oxford NC, Daughter Laurie Smith and her husband Vance Smith of Atlantic Beach NC and Daughter Ginny Milner and her husband Chris Milner of Morehead City; grandchildren Alisha Thompson of Ashville NC, David Thompson of Belmont MA, Greg Turner and fiancee Megan of Wilmington NC, Ryan Turner of Oxford NC, Lilly Griffith, Eli Griffith, and Arca Milner of Morehead City; Aunt Evelyn Smith of Collinsville VA, his cousins of the Apple Butter Gang;  many friends, employees and business associates who loved him and three loving caregivers Marcy Parry, Janice Winslow and Deidra Ballentine.

Larry was former church Deacon in Greensboro NC, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City, NC where his service will be held at 3:00pm  on Sunday October 23 at with a reception to follow.
