Larry James Hill, 70, of Core Creek (Newport, NC) went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 12, 2011.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Live Oak Grove Christian Church with Rev. Bill Pollock officiating.
His passing was unexpected. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Small in statue, he was bigger than life, leaving us with a large hole to fill.
Born on July 16, 1941 in Winston-Salem, NC to Dorfice Swain Hill McBride (preceeding him in death) and James Lester Hill ( surviving). He served our country in the U.S. Navy. He was a professional fisherman setting a B.A.S.S. world record which still stands today. He owned Aquarius Sporting Goods in Wiston-Salem, and Greensboro, NC. After moving to the coast he was able to pursue his love of hunting and fishing and was currently the owner of commercial fishing boats in Beaufort, NC. The greatest love in his life was his family.
Proceeding him in death his loving daughter Kathy Gaye Hill and his special grandmother Bessie Alley Hill.
Surviving are his loving wife Nancy Sapp Hill who he loved with all his heart, devoted son Scott Hill whom he was extremely proud of , daughter in-law Jenny he loved as a daughter, the apples of his eye grandchildren Logan and Austin Hill, brothers Alex McBride, Steve Hill and sisters Sharon Latham and Libby Parrish, special people in his life W.T. and Crystal Dennis and Captain Jimmy Robertson.
Visitation will be held Saturday 4:00-6:00pm at Munden Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Live Oak Grove Christian Church Building Fund, 1625 Hwy 101, Beaufort, NC 28516.
He was a kind and generous man and will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace Poppy
