Larry Hale Hardy, 68, of Morehead City, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A funeral will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be held 11:00 Wednesday at Highland Burial Park in Danville, VA.

Larry grew up in Danville, VA and graduated from the Virginia Military Institute. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam, he went onto serve in the Army Reserves before retiring with more than 20 years of service. He retired from N.O.A.A. where he worked as a marine biologist, following retirement he was employed with Jackson-Hewitt during tax season. He was a member of the Morehead City Elks Lodge, a past Exalted Ruler, a past NC Elks District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler, also a past president of the Morehead City Country Club. He had a passion for building model wooden ships in his spare time, and he enjoyed motorcycle rides for military and veteran supporters.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years Daleen Hardy of the home; daughter Lori Warren and husband Matthew of Durham; one grandson Andrew Warren; two step-children Gwyn Wilkes and husband Chad of Morganton, and Barry Lee Revis of Atlanta, GA; and four step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Frances Hardy.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Monday at Munden Funeral Home.
