Larry L. Ford, 67, of Havelock, passed into the loving arms of Jesus the morning of December 3, 2013, at home.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm, with Military Honors, followed by one hour of visitation.
Larry was employed at Lowes, of Morehead City, for the last fourteen years as an Outdoor Power Equipment Specialist.
He served his country in the US Army from 1966 to 1970, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was also proud to be the first Explorer Scout, in his troop, to receive the Eagle Scout Award in 1962.
Larry fought a two year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), but he was able to drive his dream car, a 2007 Corvette convertible hardtop, during the last nine months.
Larry is survived by Lauri, his wife of 17 years, and son, Jasper; his sister Sandra Schamel and husband Michael of Sunapee, NH; niece Jennifer Schamel of Boston; nephew Michael Schamel and son Joren of Sutton, NH; nephew Mark Schamel and wife Crystal of Nashville and their children, Frances, Joshua, and Benjamin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Clyde Ford.
