MGySgt, Larry Allen Boatwright, USMC Retired and Vietnam Veteran, 77, of Havelock, NC, passed away on March 9, 2024, at CarolinaEast Medical Center, New Bern, NC.

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 15th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Jud Howry. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, March 14th as well as from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., Friday, March 15th, both visitations will be held at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. For those unable to attend, the funeral service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 18th at Coastal Carolina Cemetery in Jacksonville. 

Larry was born on September 3, 1946, in Lakeland, Florida to the late Ebner and Louise Boatwright.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a dedicated United States Marine serving for over 30 years. He began his interest in flying remote airplanes while he was stationed in lwakuni, Japan. While stationed in Hawaii he spent many hours on the golf course. He loved to go bass fishing especially the fishing trips with his father, loved to go sailing and traveling to different destinations near and far, but his favorite trip was to Aruba. With his love for sailing, he was a member of Hancock Yacht Club. He loved fine dining, and he was well known for his excellent cooking skills and making people laugh.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Donna Boatwright of the home; daughters, Kathy Johnson (John) of Jacksonville, NC, Stephanie Baugus of Holladay, TN, Heather Cerovac of Havelock, NC, Melissa Wilkerson (Shannon) of New Bern, NC; son, Larry Boatwright (Mark) of Verona, NC; sister, Carole Almond of Mount Pleasant, NC; brother, Scott Boatwright (Vicky) of Macon, GA; grandchildren, Rachel (Matthew), Brianna (Ray), Justice (Grace), Jordan, Samantha, Alissa (Ryuichi), Jared, Deanna (Dalton), Andrew, and Kaleigh; six great-grandchildren; and many loving friends and fellow Marines. He loved his two Boston Terriers, Chelsea and Delilah.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jammie Baugus.
