Keturah Gray Lewis

Keturah Gray Lewis, 88, of Newport, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.

Funeral service will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Munden Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Elder Stacy Pierce. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Keturah Gray Lewis lived her life in Newport and graduated from Newport High School in 1948. She married her husband of 67 years, James Wesley Lewis, in 1949.  She was a member of the Newport River Primitive Baptist Church. Her vocation was that of homemaker, mother, and grandmother but she took that to the level of the capable wife as described in Proverbs chapter 31. For many years she tirelessly cared for elderly family members.

She is survived by her husband James Wesley Lewis of the home; daughter, Demetra Helena Liles and husband Douglas of Newport; granddaughter, Rana Howell and husband Keith of New Bern; grandson, Brandon Liles and wife Andrea of Jacksonville; great-granddaughters, Hali Sullivan and husband David of New Bern, Morgan Goines of New Bern, Taylor Howell of New Bern; great-grandson, Keegan Liles of Jacksonville; great-great-granddaughters, Lily Sullivan of New Bern, Bailey Sullivan of New Bern; great-great- grandson, Patrick Sullivan of New Bern; sisters, Betty Crispin of New Bern, Vi Gillen of Morehead City; brother, Jesse Gray and wife Lela of Newport; nieces, Stephanie Gillen of Morehead City, Johnie Segar and husband Clay of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Aileen Willis of Morehead City, Shirley Lewis of Newport; nephews, Kenny Lewis and wife Linda of Newport, Rick Lewis and wife Sylvia of Newport, Mike Willis of Greenville.

Keturah was preceded in death by her parents, Cicero and Ava Gray.

Family will see friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home.
