Kerney Andrew Merrill, Jr.

Kerney Andrew Merrill, Jr., 87, of Beaufort, died Saturday, June 7, 2014, at Pruitt Health Care.
A funeral will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Armsby and Rev. Jim Stephens officiating. A 2:00 pm interment will be held at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Kinston.
Kerney served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of Tuttles Grove United Methodist Church and an active member of Carteret County Shrine Club. He earned the KCCH distinction in freemasonry. He enjoyed farming all his life and in later days enjoyed eating at the Fish Hook Restaurant on Harkers Island.
He is survived by his wife June Harper Merrill of Beaufort; one son William Andrew Merrill of Winston-Salem; one stepson Thomas Ray Taylor and wife Ann of Sophia; one granddaughter Elizabeth Hayward and husband Jeff of Minnesota; three great grandchildren Noel, William, and Megan; one sister Inez Powell of Bettie; one sister in-law Mary Merrill of Morehead City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kerney Andrew and Nellie Mae Merrill, one sister, and six brothers.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Tuttles Grove UMC at 1989 Hwy 101 Beaufort, NC 28516.
